European Leadership
The course European Leadership is delivered to PhD students in Sociology, who choose to focus on the European leadership and EU topics in scope of their doctoral research. The course provides students with the capability to understand what leadership is as well as an insight to prevailing leadership theories and models focusing on leadership practices in public and non-profit organisations. While general leadership theories prevail all the sectors, leading public and non-profit organisation require specific knowledge and understanding of the characteristics of these organisations.
Leaving this course, students have the basic understanding of leadership concepts, different leadership approaches, and abilities to apply various skills and techniques deemed to be essential for successful leadership to actual organisational context and broader societal setting. The course enables students to conceptualize and analyse multi-level strategic processes in the EU relevant from the perspective of LELD2040.
The main purposes of the course are: a) the acquisition of a complex systemic perspective and an interdisciplinary approach in research on EU manifested as understanding of the general structure of social sciences and interconnectedness between its particular disciplines and sub-disciplines; b) the ability of interdisciplinary scientific and expert dialogue and cooperation with other professional profiles in social sciences with the sole aim of presenting the gained scientific findings in the form of publications in the international scientific periodicals.
