Excellent round table with two extraordinary interlocutors. With Milan Brglez, PhD, European MP and Mr. Uroš Brežan, long-time mayor of the Municipality of Tolmin, we had a round table discussion on the challenges of bringing Europe closer to its citizens and looked for ways to increase citizen participation in decision-making processes at all levels of government.

Enlargement of the EU and challenges to local development

Today we discussed with students of the Faculty of Economics Podgorica, University of Montenegro about the potential enlargement of the EU to the countries of the Western Balkans and the challenges for local development. The students, led by Dr. Ivan Radević, highlighted the positive and negative aspects of the possible enlargement of the EU to Montenegro, focusing on the economic dimension.

The socio-political challenges to EU regional policies

May 15, 2023

This year's roundtable was dedicated to regional policy and development. Exceptional interlocutors - Ms. Andreja Katič, State Secretary for Regional Development, Mr. Uroš Rozman, Director of the RRA Podravje - Maribor, Mr. Tine Radinja, Mayor of the Občina Škofja Loka and member of the Committee of Regions and Prof. Dr. Miro Haček, expert in the field of local self-government - showed how to build consensus between practice, profession and politics regarding the establishment of regions in Slovenia.

Economic aspects of local development

February 13, 2024

For the third year in a row, a roundtable was organised as part of the JMC #LELD2040 at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Montenegro in Podgorica. The central topic of the roundtable was the economic aspects of local development. Three very interesting interlocutors, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ivan Radević, Assist. Jelena Jovović and Assist. Nikola Drašković, all from the field of economics, discussed the economic impact of local development in a small country like Montenegro. The roundtable was moderated by JMC holder Assoc. prof. dr. Simona Kukovič.

Concept of European community-led development

March 21, 2024

At this year's round table experts from five CEE countries discussed the concept of European community-led development. The panellists Prof. Dr. Boglarka Koller (Hungary), Prof. Dr. Miro Haček (Slovenia), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Małgorzata Myśliwiec (Poland), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Peter Csanyi (Slovakia) and Assist. Prof. Dr. Petr Just (Czech Republic) demonstrated that completely different systems of local self-government with many peculiarities have developed in countries that are otherwise linked by a similar political history. The round table was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Simona Kukovič.
